The Clouds Have Fallen

Description

In all my years of living I have never seen anything like this. A big grouping of mist was hovering and slowly making it's way to the ground. It looked like the sky was falling and the clouds were coming headfirst.

Hi,

Thank you for submitting to #SkyAndNatureClub . As a critic there, here are my personal views on your artwork:

First of all, I'm very pleased that you managed to capture this special moment. This will give originality to the artwork, making it interesting, without being cliché.

The lighter tones of the sky make a good contrast between the darker forest. However, I feel the need of more contrast, to find there some really dark lines. I understand that low contrast can work well too, but I personally consider that darkening the shadows will make the lighter details more visible.

Low contrast will increase the dreamy feel, but on the other hand it will make the photo faded, with less impact.

Regarding the composition, it's not balanced. It's going more into the opposite corner of the tree. The fact that you put the tree near the edge balances the tendency to go down left, but it's not enough.

I would have recommended a little bit of HDR to enhance the tonality, but I've full-viewed it and realised it lost a lot of "info" in the sky. The transition in the tones is not smooth, so any HDR will make it even worse. Try to reprocess the raw, but be careful to not over-lighten the sky, because you will get hard transitions.
My main point will be about the fact that I wish I had more details in the forest, but I love the flow and smoothness of the mist/clouds.

Keep up the good work !
